Earth Day
The Origin of Earth DayThe official date for Earth Day is April 22. Earth Day began in 1970 and was founded by Gaylord Nelson, a senator from Wisconsin. Today Earth Day is a global celebration. It continues as an annual event that brings together people and communities for the common appreciation and understanding of the natural environment. PEEC Celebrating Since 2000From its beginnings in 2000, the hallmark event of PEEC has been the organization of Earth Day activities for the community. Each year we have offered exciting venues for local environmental and educational organizations to network, as well as many family-friendly events centered on the enjoyment and understanding of nature. Thanks to many great community volunteers, our list of events has continued to expand over the years. Take a look at our past Earth Day celebrations.
